Front yard garden

I don’t often talk about our front yard because it’s mostly decorative, overrun with lilies, and, frankly, I don’t go out there much since we live on such a busy street, but here are a few pictures.

The rose of sharon, only a few years old, is huge and happy

Chickens in summer

People often ask what we do with the chickens in the winter, and our answer is, basically, “nothing”.  They’re hardy and really, chickens are much better off cold than hot. Heat is really what you need to worry about with chickens.

I’m so done with winter already!

And so is Kaylee.

Be-socked!

She may hate the sweater and socks, but she tolerates them to be warm.  I know exactly how she feels…

Curried roasted cauliflower

This has been one of our go-to recipes of late.  Just cauliflower roasted with canola oil and a blend of spices.

Yum!

Needing to make some space in the fridge, I also roasted a couple pounds of parsnips and sauteed some kale. Double-yum!
