| I don’t often talk about our front yard because it’s mostly decorative, overrun with lilies, and, frankly, I don’t go out there much since we live on such a busy street, but here are a few pictures. The rose of sharon, only a few years old, is huge and happy Quite accidentally, we [...] People often ask what we do with the chickens in the winter, and our answer is, basically, “nothing”. They’re hardy and really, chickens are much better off cold than hot. Heat is really what you need to worry about with chickens. In the summer, we make sure the girls have adequate water at all times, [...] Doesn’t Kaylee look just the picture of sadness? I have done a lot of sewing over the last six or so months, especially for the 2010 holidays, but I haven’t taken many photos. This spring, though, I’ve been making wrap skirts, loosely based on the Yard-Sale Wrap Skirt pattern from Weekend Sewing. Polka dots! I’ve made three or four so far and [...] Yeah, so … bad blogger, me. Sorry. No good reason. Just not into it lately. But perhaps now I am again, so lets give this another try. What have I been up to? Gardening (that's beans and lettuce in the background). Making dogs sit on my lap. Getting a new tattoo. That’s what it was when I woke up this morning: 6 degrees. It’s supposed to get into the teens today, but that’s it. I’m so done with winter already! And so is Kaylee. Be-socked! She may hate the sweater and socks, but she tolerates them to be warm. I know exactly how she feels… [...] This has been one of our go-to recipes of late. Just cauliflower roasted with canola oil and a blend of spices. Yum! Needing to make some space in the fridge, I also roasted a couple pounds of parsnips and sauteed some kale. Double-yum! [...] | |
