Life has happened and gotten in the way of posting, but the garden doesn’t pay any attention to that and has been going gangbusters. Happy, happy tomatoes! The blackberry bushes are trying to get into the house. One day's haul: blackberries, raspberries, eggplant, tomatoes, hot pepper. [...] I had a little time this morning and all the ingredients, so I harvested some basil from the garden and made pesto. My general recipe: basil hard cheese (I had a shredded three-cheese blend on hand) pine nuts (I didn’t have enough, so I used walnuts) olive oil sea salt I can’t give you [...] Happy Independence Day! I have tons of tomato flowers, but only a few actual tomatoes; most of mine [...] I love orange lilies (thankfully, since our yard is infested with the daylily version of them). I purchased the orange Asiatic lilies about 7 years ago, and they’ve moved around our property until I found a good spot for them in the front garden. They’ve really thrived in the last four years, so happy and [...] One of my favorite things to grow in the garden are golden beets. They’re much milder than red beets, with less of an “earthy” flavor. They’re also just really pretty to look at. My favorite way to prepare them? Roasted on the grill (click for recipe).
