I don’t want to get too hopeful, but it looks like it’s going to be a good year for our blackberry bushes! We did lose the plums, like I expected, but it looks like we’re going to have a bumper crop of sour cherries and prairie spy apples. Prairie spy apples The peonies are well on their way to blooming, too. Everything else in the garden is early, so we’ll see if these end up blooming [...] I’m forcing forsythia from the backyard and that makes me very happy. This is what I saw in the backyard yesterday: Daffodils. In January. This is not right. I don’t plant a whole lot of purely decorative plants, but I do love zinnias! The garden grows apace. I'm going to be canning a LOT of tomatoes. Hopefully I'll also be making a lot of pickles from the cucumbers! First beet harvest: golden beets Bean flowers [...] I don’t often talk about our front yard because it’s mostly decorative, overrun with lilies, and, frankly, I don’t go out there much since we live on such a busy street, but here are a few pictures.
