This is what I saw in the backyard yesterday: Daffodils. In January. This is not right. Wile we’ve had a mild winter so far this year (today, it’s 50 degrees and raining, which is what it’s normally like in November here, not January), this is pretty typical for kale in winter in central Ohio. Kale in winter, a little droopy, but just fine! We actually have some other kale that [...] One day’s harvest. (sorry for the lack of picture before. apparently wordpress for android is being testy.) The garden grows apace. I'm going to be canning a LOT of tomatoes. Hopefully I'll also be making a lot of pickles from the cucumbers! First beet harvest: golden beets Bean flowers [...] We have our first tomato! Yum! It’s a Silvery Fir tomato, and I haven’t tasted it yet. It’s resting on the windowsill for tomorrow’s dinner! I don’t often talk about our front yard because it’s mostly decorative, overrun with lilies, and, frankly, I don’t go out there much since we live on such a busy street, but here are a few pictures. The rose of sharon, only a few years old, is huge and happy Quite accidentally, we [...] One of the things we did this year was move the raised beds into the fenced yard and move the greenhouse outside of the fence and by the cars. It was a lot of work (most of it on Jeff’s part!), but well worth it. It’s much easier to water and keep an eye on [...] Life has happened and gotten in the way of posting, but the garden doesn’t pay any attention to that and has been going gangbusters.
